Search Engine Opimisation (SEO) is the way in which you make your web site optimised (found) when you type in certain key words on the search engines (such as google or msn).

Anyone can learn to do it (like flying a plane for example!), but it takes an awful lot of time and effort to learn how to optimise. That said, once you have it down, and you understand what needs to be done, its also essential not to over do it, as search engines can penalise you if you get it wrong.

The search engines then check their database, and see what web pages are optimised for those keywords or phrase.
